Interior Design Styles of 2022

Interior Design Styles of 2022

Trends and styles come and go. Many of the current design styles go hand in hand with our times. People are spending more time at home, they are working from home and need spaces to function differently than before. We are entertaining less, and want to feel comfortable and excited about our homes again. As we approach a new season, we’ve taken some notes. Here are the styles we have our eyes on in the interior design world right now.

Maximalism

Long are the days of minimalist style. Although there are still stylistic rules that should be followed with maximalism, at its core it's all about bold patterns, funky materials, and lots of art. Maximalism is a personality-based design perspective that encourages people to express themselves within their own homes. It doesn’t need to cover your entire house - try creating a cute bar cart area or gallery wall to create balance if you aren’t sure about it yet. Finding the perfect blend is where an interior designer comes in handy.

Shades of brown and Deep Neutrals

Chocolate and caramel are SO in right now. Shades of brown are a fresh way to incorporate a rich neutral tone into a space. Often times found in spas, these earth tones make you feel calmness and relaxation. The earth tones go well with pops of bright colors- which are also trending now. Contrasting a deep brown with a burnt orange or emerald green really brings a fun energy!

“Neutrals will take a bit of a back seat in 2022 as people start to experiment with color again, but the palette will stay very close to hues you’d find in nature. We predict paint rollers will be dipped in rosy, terracotta tones, swathing rooms from wall to ceiling for a complete monochromatic moment that envelops you in its coziness.”

Vintage and Sustainable Pieces

Being sustainable has never been trendier. An easy way to ensure sustainability in your home is by upcycling antiques with a modern flare. The younger generations have brought back thrifting in a huge way. With DIY and Tiktok trends all over the internet, people are rethinking how they recreate the pieces they have at home already- or perhaps are considering buying more antiques and thrifty items.

Curves

For so long, straight, crisp edges have been the standard. Curves can easily be incorporated into a room, whether its a playful sofa, a center table or console, or a simple round mirror, curves add a new perspective to the eye. Not only are they visually appealing, they also allow the space to be thought of in a new way since staging a round couch is less traditional.
