Summer in Newport, Rhode Island: Our Top Spots
We may be a bit biased, but Newport is one of the best places to spend the summer months.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting for a long weekend, Newport, Rhode Island is full of beautiful sights to see, fun things to do and delectable waterfront restaurants. From panoramic views to fresh lobster rolls, there’s something for everyone in Newport! Here are a few of our favorites ..
The Cliff Walk
An absolute must for any Newport trip! The Cliff Walk is a 3.5 mile waterfront path that offers a behind the scenes look at the Newport Mansions. Sweeping ocean views, rocky cliffs and historic homes- what’s not to love? There are five different entrances, each offering a different terrain and views. Visitors can opt to go the entire 3.5 miles or pick a shorter segment.
Newport Vineyards
Tucked away 10 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Newport is Newport Vineyards, a 100 acre winery that also has an in house brewery. With wine tastings, charcuterie boards and lawn games, Newport Vineyards is the perfect afternoon spot after a day at the beach.
Forty 1 North
A truly picture perfect spot, Forty 1 North is a boutique hotel on iconic Thames St. Featuring 5 star accommodations, multiple restaurants and a dockside bar, Forty 1 North is the ideal spot to grab a drink and watch the sunset over the water- we suggest an Aperol Spritz!
Third Beach
While there is no shortage of beautiful beachfront in Newport, Third Beach is one of our favorite hidden gems. Third Beach is east facing and slightly protected by a cove, making it less wavy and the perfect spot for a family beach day. There is also a marina and boat launch for watercraft owners.
