Behind the Scenes: Conceptual Design

Wondering what it’s like hiring an interior designer for your project? We’re taking you behind the scenes of the initial stage of our design process.

The first step

While we love every stage of creating beautiful spaces for our clients, the conceptual design phase is one of our favorites. After the design agreement is signed, conceptual design begins and we are off and running! The Maloney Interiors team works to carefully curate design boards for each room in the project. These design boards consist of inspiration images, layouts, color pallets, material, furniture, and décor suggestions to create a design concept. Behind the scenes, we’re also tackling the necessary tasks of documenting the existing conditions in your home and measuring the space. We then work together with our clients to determine if any changes or adjustments need to be made to our conceptual design before renovations and purchasing begins.

Looking ahead

The Maloney Interiors team has been hard at work this winter, planning and executing our designs for multiple Aquidneck Island summer homes that we will be completing this spring. Here’s a peek at what’s to come in the months ahead! Our clients have approved these boards and we are currently in the detailed design and execution phases for these projects. We cannot wait to share the final product with you.

The Kitchen: Light wood tones and contrasting cabinets add warmth to the heart of the home.

The Great Room: A classic coastal palette for the ultimate post-beach relaxation spot.

The Office: Cheerful patterns pack a huge punch.

The Master Bedroom: A bright + airy retreat.

The Master Bathroom: A neutral, spa-like oasis.

The Guest Bedroom: A monochromatic moment- blue hues take the stage.

The Guest Bathroom: Clean + crisp with a nautical touch.
