Behind the Design

A peek behind the scenes of one of our current projects, a summer condo in newport, Rhode Island.

The Master Bedroom of #TheNewportCondo project.

We’ve taken you behind the scenes before of installation day; but did you know that the whole design process often takes up to a year? With many of our projects being our clients’ summer homes, our busiest season starts in the Fall in order to have each project complete by the time Memorial Day rolls around.

For Full Service design projects, the design process begins with the conceptual design stage. After the design agreement is signed, conceptual design begins. Perhaps our favorite phase in the design process, the Maloney Interiors team curates design boards for each room in the project. These design boards consist of inspiration images, layouts, color pallets, material, furniture, and décor suggestions to create a design concept.

Here’s a peek at the design boards for one of our newest projects, a family summer home in Newport, Rhode Island. These boards have already been approved by our clients so we are off and running! Stay tuned…

The Living Room: Bright pops of color and fun patterns create a space that is sure to excite.

The Kitchen: Classic bright white with a seaside twist.

The Dining Room: A show-stopping chandelier serves as the centerpiece for family gatherings for years to come.

The Powder Room: Whimsical wallpaper is the perfect statement in this smaller space.

The First Guest Bedroom: Drawing on the colors of the beach to create a relaxing and sensual space.

The Second Guest Bedroom: Deep blue hues pair perfectly with crisp white for a hotel-like experience.

The Guest Bathroom: Combining elements from both Guest Bedrooms in a chic, streamlined space that guests will never want to leave.

The Master Bedroom: In contrast to the rest of the home, the Master Bedroom is completely neutral for a space to retreat to after a long day at the beach.

The Master Bathroom: Creamy colors and spa-like features.
