Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an interior designer? Well, the Maloney Interiors team is pulling back the curtains to bring you along (virtually of course 😉) on a jam packed day at our most recently completed project- #TheBellevueResidence.

Leading Up To THE BIG DAY

It would be unfair to give the impression that the room was completely installed and photographed all in the same day- the best things take time right? The full installation process at a project can take months, as was the case with #TheBellevueResidence. Custom furniture was reupholstered and installed ahead of time, as were the luscious custom drapes and a few other pieces. However, there was still a lot to complete in order to make this house a home for a bustling Newport family- and we managed to achieve that all in one day!

The day of: Installation and Photoshoot

8:45-9:15

We begin Installation Day with a team rendezvous at our office in Downtown Newport to load up our cars with all of the design goodies!

9:15-9:45

Time to head to the residence. When we arrive, we greet our clients and quickly unpack our cars to organize everything- there’s no time to spare!

9:45-12:30

The moment we’ve all been waiting for- styling the space. It never fails to amaze us how much accessories, pillows and art can truly make a house a home.

While we usually have a pretty good idea of where everything will go ahead of time, there is always a bit of back and forth to ensure that each piece is put in the perfect place

12:30-1:00

Time for a quick bite to eat! We grab sandwiches from Cru Cafe, a local favorite. During lunch, we also do a final inventory to make sure everything is installed and accounted for.

1:00-4:00

After lunch, our amazing photographer Cate Brown meets us at #TheBellevueResidence. We have a quick meeting to develop a game plan for photographing the spaces, then Cate starts snapping away.

It takes around three hours to capture all of the images we want from the rooms we installed- the foyer, the formal living room, and the office.

4:00-4:45

Once Cate is sure we’ve gotten the perfect shots of each room, we pack up and ensure each design element is in its final place to prepare for the big reveal.

While there may have been a few snags throughout the day, nothing compares to the smiles on our clients’ faces when they see their new fully designed space! Even their dog Ruby seems delighted- and it’s a good thing we made sure the fabric on the cream sectional is stain resistant. : )

Evening

Installation Day doesn’t end there! That evening, we edit iPhone photos, work on graphics, and post a sneak peek behind the scenes on our Instagram Stories. Be sure to follow us @MaloneyInteriors so you don’t miss a thing.

Have a question about the design process? Feel free to reach out to us at any time- we offer both in person and virtual design services and would love to help create a space you and your family will love to live in.
