Summer Field’s Farm
Amongst the New England coast are a set of towns holding a particular presence that differentiates them from the rest. Starting in Tiverton, RI then down to Little Compton and continuing east into Westport & Dartmouth, MA is this hidden gem known as the Farm Coast. It has the personality of classic New England coastal areas, with the shingle-style homes and stone exterior, but with a dominant countryside setting that makes you feel as though you stepped foot into a completely isolated rural escape. Vast meadows, weathered barns, greenery all around…this stretch of farmlands sound so tranquil and purely authentic to the outdoor lifestyle. At the beginning of this stretch lies this week’s feature home “Summer Field’s Farm” which perfectly exemplifies what one can expect when visiting the Farm Coast.
A Manor on The Estate
This is just the beginning of what you will get with Summer Field’s Farm. Driving past the stacked stone entrance, you make your way up to this 5700 square foot home that embodies the relationship between coastal-style architecture with farmhouse features. Standing on the estate, all that is seen are the farmlands surrounding every side of the home. The neighboring dwellings are no where in site. It’s just you and this beautiful structure amongst nature’s seemingly infinite setting.
A Breath of Fresh Air
We’re structuring this week’s post a bit different than how we usually do. Rather than taking you straight inside to talk about all the interior qualities we love…we wanted to instead sit tight for a bit longer on this gorgeous landscape and really soak it in. The landscaping and exterior details of Summer Field’s Farm are quaint and nature infused. Though there isn’t much complexity to the landscape design, it is actually this simplistic quality and guided views that make it admirable. We can just imagine how crisp that fresh air feels as you breath it in and how breathtaking this sight must be during sunset as you watch the glistening warm light scatter across the lands.
A Farm On The Coast
Though the main dwelling has a definitively coastal aesthetic, let’s not forget that it is situated on Rhode Island’s “Farm Coast” and this home still does indeed stay true to that name. The primary home features barn-style garage doors in which the color choice blends in nicely with the structure’s stone exterior working nicely in comparison to the rest of the home’s architectural style. Along the driveway, there is a weathered wood and shingled barn with bright red doors that portray the classic farm aesthetic. On the inside, the barn contains four stalls in which the golden pine boards stands out amongst the concrete walls and flooring and aluminum ceiling. Lastly, the gracious amount of agriculture offers so many opportunities to farm and grow or horseback ride to one’s pleasure. These distinct features really do put the farm in Farm Coast with this week’s feature home.
A Traditional styled Interior
Okay so we definitely love the outdoor features of this home and they may be our favorite…mostly because you cannot beat a setting like that! But, as we finally make our way indoors, the interior style definitely has it’s own admirable features that we need to shine light on as well. The overall interior aesthetic beautifully compliments the authenticity in the outdoor landscape. The home is catered to a more traditional design style that mingles with coastal features to bring together this airy interior space. While traditional homes often have a heavy emphasis on dark wood elements and a rich color palette, the Summer Field’s Home presents traditional style furnishings and accessories with a lighter-toned palette that creates this calming aesthetic with a warm ambience.
A Focus On The Details
What designer doesn’t appreciate the details and this home’s exquisite craftsmanship in the wood detailing is definitely something to admire! The carved ornamental features along the moldings and trims, railings and even the feet of the chessboard table, all add to the subtle and sumptuous aesthetic of the home. The design tends to interchange between white painted wood or natural stained tones which once again play into the reason why the home creates such a refreshing balance between traditional and coastal design styles.
